We have a 60% interest in, and are the operator of, Blocks 1 and 4 offshore southern Tanzania. The blocks cover around 12,000 square kilometres of the Mafia Deep Offshore Basin and the northern part of the Rovuma Basin. In 2014, a heads of agreement (HoA) was signed between the partners of Blocks 1, 4 and 2 to develop a potential LNG project and a memorandum of understanding was signed between the HoA partners and the government to acquire an agreed site for the proposed LNG project.
We have gas exploration, production and liquefaction interests in Egypt. Gas production is from the West Delta Deep Marine and Rosetta concessions. We hold interests of 35.5% and 38%, respectively, in trains one and two of the Egyptian LNG (ELNG) plant.
Production volumes have continued to decline as a result of deteriorating reservoir performance and the high level of diversions to the domestic market. In January 2014, force majeure notices were issued under the LNG agreements in Egypt, because domestic diversions were severely restricting volumes available to Egyptian LNG. These notices remain in place.
