Shell has been active in Colombia since 1956. Shell Exploration and Production Colombia GmbH Sucursal Colombia is an entity incorporated in Germany with a Colombian branch for the exploration of oil and other hydrocarbons.
In 2017, Shell Trading and Supply began operating C.I. Shell Comercializadora Colombia, S.A.S., whose main purpose was to export crude oil produced locally. This crude trading business ceased in March 2018. The company is in process of liquidation.
Shell Colombia S.A. has downstream activities which include the storage, distribution, purchase, sale, import and export of petroleum and chemical products.
Country Financial Analysis
The statutory corporate income tax rate in Colombia is 33% for 2019.
Revenues fell in 2019 because of reduced activity by C.I. Shell Comercializadora Colombia, S.A.S. Shell’s Colombian entities incurred a loss in 2019 and therefore no corporate income tax was due.
